KALA was born from saltwater, sunshine, and a lifelong connection to the ocean. Founder and designer Sarah Carbia, originally from the vibrant island of Puerto Rico, began crafting jewelry as a way to carry the spirit of the sea wherever life took her.

After moving to the Hawaiian Islands to study metal sculpture at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, Sarah fell in love with the art of shaping metal by hand—transforming gold, silver, and brass into timeless keepsakes that reflect nature’s effortless beauty.

Today, from her studio in Sunny, California, she continues to create each piece by hand, blending island soul with California craftsmanship. Every piece of jewelry is designed to move with you—whether you’re surfing, traveling, or simply soaking in a golden sunset.

Named after her daughter, Kala, the brand embodies love, intention, and the beauty of life’s natural flow. Each piece is made to order using recycled and high-quality materials, ensuring your jewelry not only shines but tells a story—your story.

Handmade with heart. Inspired by the sea. Worn with love.
